Transcript:  “My name is Tami Kramer. I’m a supervising legal assistant for Legal Aid. I work out of the Cambridge office with the Mille Lacs Band Project.

I got tired of the corporate games, the bottom line being the dollar instead of people’s lives, and I want to do something better. I saw an advertisement for this position; one of the things that grabbed me was that it would work with Native Americans, which I am part Native American. And it was Legal Aid.

Legal Aid is not like working for a private law firm. Legal Aid is more laid-back, but that doesn’t mean they’re laid-back in their ability to provide good legal care. I love working for Legal Aid. And it’s not just the helping other people; it’s actually the people I work with. A lot of people tell me that I do a good job, but it’s not me; it’s the people I work with.

I believe Legal Aid is important because in our form of democracy it’s complicated. Legal Aid to me means help.”
