Meet Dannie

Situation: Like many Minnesotans, Dannie Tyuse and her husband worked hard to build up equity in their home. Then a lender approached, offering a refinancing option that made home improvements more appealing. What the lender failed to mention was that Dannie would be left with a monthly payment that would soon balloon to an amount out of her reach. The practice was a clear case of deceptive lending practices.

Action: Dannie called Legal Aid. We were able to broker an agreement modifying the terms of the loan, as well as work with the State Legislature to make sure that the situation was not repeated on other innocent victims.

Result: Dannie and her husband were able to stay in their home, a perfect example of how Legal Aid professionals make a difference in Minnesotans’ day-to-day lives.
