About the Disability Law Center
Legal Aid’s disability law practice is managed by the Minnesota Disability Law Center (MDLC).
As a statewide project, we work with Minnesotans with physical and mental disabilities to provide free civil legal assistance related to those disabilities.
Our mission is to advance the dignity, self-determination and equality of individuals with disabilities by doing three things:
-
Changing lives
-
Changing attitudes
-
Changing systems
Please note the following:
MDLC does not provide representation in criminal matters or take cases of a general legal nature when the problem is not related to your disability, as set forth in federal law. For example, if you’re a tenant who is being evicted because of your disability, we might represent you. But if your disability has no bearing on the dispute with your landlord, we will provide a referral to another lawyer.
MDLC does not generally provide assistance with divorce, child custody, or personal injury cases.
